And Hold…One…Two…Three
As I get older, I find I have less time to stretch. And, I hate that. I loved to stretch. I made time to stretch. After a 15-20 minute stretch session, I felt long and limber. I felt like my muscles rejoiced and were happy I paid attention to them.
Unfortunately I haven’t had the time like I use to. You’re probably in the same boat. And I get it. Even if we live the most non-busy life, there are things we would like to do than stretch. Stretching shows us our body’s limits. Stretching isn’t comfortable especially when you need to hold the stretch for 10 seconds. There’s also the fear of not being able to get out of stretch! I hope that never happens to you!!
As we get older, our muscles, tendons, and ligaments aren’t as supple as they once were. We are more prone to injury from a simple stumble which at age 20 we would’ve walked away from without a second thought. Not so much now. We are thinking twice and perhaps three times about that stumble off the sidewalk. We think, “yep, that’s gonna hurt tomorrow.” We pop in 800 mg of any over the counter medication.
Stretching helps are bodies adapt to those stumbles as we age. Stretching allows us to feel long and limber as we age. Stretching keeps us feeling young and being active. Give it a try. Whether you can get down on the floor to stretch or sit in your chair to stretch, you’ll feel a difference. Stretch daily to see the results. It may be tedious and silly to do but, do it. Stretch while you’re watching TV. Stretch while you’re making dinner. Stretch while you’re on a phone call. Just start. You’ll realize that you plenty of opportunities to stretch and you’ll feel those positive effects.
OK, here we go… While you have been reading today’s blog, you could be stretching! So did you??
Here are some of my favorite tools that help me stretch, focus, and be strong.
321 Strong 5 in 1 Foam Roller Set
This foam roller set is the best. It helps my plantar fasciitis, ITP band, lower back, and any tightness I have in my legs. These items can also travel well. This is also makes a great gift.
These wheels are meant to last and mean to really work your back. Each of these 3 wheels are targeted for the lower back, upper back, and shoulders. They are stiff and surprising sturdy underneath your back but it works and you will get use to it.
3. Foot and Calf Stretcher Strap
Again, this is a great tool to stretch your calves and hamstrings. The upside with this product is that you can be on the floor or seated in a chair to get the full benefits. What I love about this product is that it is portable.
Tell me what products you have used and how effective they have been? I have added these items and more in my Amazon Storefront under stretching tools.
